Yomiuri Shimbun senior political writer Keiko Iizuka contributes article on Inaugural Kyoto Conference and AI to “Gaiko” journal

An article concerning the Inaugural Kyoto Conference has been published in the 94th issue of "Gaiko" (Diplomacy), a specialized journal issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). Written by Keiko Iizuka, a Senior Political Writer for the Yomiuri Shimbun who covered the Kyoto Conference firsthand, the article analyzes the differences in the US and European positions on AI based on the cross-sectoral discussions held at the conference, and discusses the path Japan should take.

"Gaiko" is a journal that compiles analyses from experts on international affairs and foreign policy. The latest issue features a special section titled "AI Facing an Era of Crisis," and Ms. Iizuka's article, "The Age of AI: What are Humans' Intrinsic Values? ― From Dialogue Between the Philosophical and Industrial Worlds ―," is one of the pieces within it. MOFA officials also participated in the Inaugural Kyoto Conference, which was held for two days starting on September 23.
