Kyoto Univ. and KIP to Host a Seminar on “Humanities for a Multilayered Society of Values”
A seminar commemorating the signing of a comprehensive partnership agreement between Kyoto University and the Kyoto Institute of Philosophy, titled Humanities for a Multilayered Society of Values — Transformation of Value, Self, and Society, will be held on November 17, 2025, at Yamauchi Hall, Shiran Kaikan, Kyoto University.
Details
The seminar is organized by the Institute for the Future of Human Society and the Humanities Engagement Unit, Growth Strategy Headquarters, Kyoto University, and co-organized by the Kyoto Institute of Philosophy and the Kyoto University Office of Research Acceleration.
Professor L.A. Paul from Yale University, who served as a panelist at the 1st Kyoto Conference, will deliver the keynote lecture. In addition, Professor Yasuo Deguchi (Kyoto University; Co-chairperson, Kyoto Institute of Philosophy) and Professor Tatsuhiko Inatani (Kyoto University) will also give lectures.
The seminar is open to the public, and registration is available for both in-person and online participation.

On June 23, 2025, the Kyoto Institute of Philosophy concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement with Kyoto University with the aim of “contributing to the establishment of Kyoto as a global center for intellectual exchange and value creation”. This collaboration seeks to further strengthen the Institute’s initiative to promote the “formation of a global movement” and the University’s efforts to advance the “formation of global agendas”.
